High-Mileage Heroes: The Cars Still Passing MOTs After 150,000 Miles
High mileage does not automatically mean finished. Some cars still pass MOTs at 150,000 miles and beyond, especially when they have been looked after.
Based on AutoRank MOT tests completed in May 2026 with odometer readings between 150,000 and 500,000 miles. Rankings use minimum test thresholds so one-off survivors do not dominate the table.
150k+ pass rates
Models with at least 500 May tests above 150,000 miles.
Prius at 150k+
6,214 May MOT tests above 150,000 miles.
The quick read
The Hyundai Ioniq led the 150,000-mile table in this snapshot, with an 83.2% pass rate from 518 May tests.
The Volkswagen Sharan, Seat Alhambra and BMW 5 Series also scored well above 78%.
The Toyota Prius is the volume story. AutoRank counted 6,214 May tests above 150,000 miles for the Prius, with a 77.7% pass rate.
Past 200,000 miles
At 200,000 miles and above, the sample gets smaller. The Kia Niro led the filtered table at 86.7% from 128 tests.
The Mercedes-Benz V, Hyundai Ioniq and Seat Alhambra were also strong in the 200,000-mile view.
Small samples can move around, so this is best read as a survivor list rather than a final ranking.
What it means
Mileage matters, but condition matters more. A 170,000-mile car with good tyres, clean brakes and regular servicing can still look healthy at MOT time.
If you are buying one, the MOT history is your friend. Look for repeated advisories, corrosion notes and tyre issues that never seem to get fixed.

200,000+ mile models
